The patterns are also called the Patterns of Total Body Organization, highlighting that coordination of the body as a whole is the goal.
You will come to understand the profound effect of exploring how we were initially wired for movement and the inner pathways of connection that support our daily movement.

A body that that did not fully explore and integrate the patterns, must continually cope with compensations and work arounds that invite stress, frustration and injury into both the mind and body.

Your Instructor: Mariah-Jane Thies
Mariah-Jane Thies, is a dance and movement educator with over 37 years teaching experience working with many ages and dance genres. Her studies of the Laban and Bartenieff systems has been for the last 25 years and included intensive studies and certification with Bill Evans in his Laban/Bartenieff based Modern Dance Pedagogy. She has had the distinct pleasure of working with Peggy Hackney, the creator of developmental movement patterns, and with Anne Green Gilbert, the creator of the BrainDance utilizing these patterns along with tactile and vestibular development. Mariah-Jane has also worked with creator of Mind-Body Centering, Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen and Brain Gym faculty, Carol Ann Erikson, on Movement Explorations.
The complementary studies and certifications in both Brain Gym and reflex integration (Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Training) inform Mariah-Jane’s approach to how students learn, the blocks that can be present and strategies for allowing for the ideal learning state.
Mariah-Jane is warm and welcoming making the learning space fun and exciting. Encourages you to be playful and explore the developmental movements that are so important to understanding our nervous system. If you’re curious about this area you’re in the right hands.
