Brain Dance Course
Participant Experiences

Brain Dance is a wonderful workshop. Anyone interested in Primitive Reflexes "must do this" first.

I found the BrainDance workshop to be an energizing and playful way to enliven my BrainGym knowledge and add greater dimension and possibilities to the BG movements. Very helpful if you are feeling a bit stuck and need some inspiration in your practice. Many thanks Mariah-Jane.

The Brain Dance is such a creative, enjoyable way to wake up the whole body. I’m excited to share it with the children I work with. I loved the playful way of adapting the movements for all ages and I appreciated the links to the infant reflexes.

Mariah-Jane, is warm and welcoming making the learning space fun and exciting. Encourages you to be playful and explore the developmental movements that are so important to understanding our nervous system. If you’re curious about this area you’re in the right hands.

Attending the Brain Dance and the Embracing Movement Diversity courses gave me much food for thought and ideas for further exploration.

Brain Dance ties in beautifully with what we have already learnt so far about reflexes and movement. It makes this movement accessible to a wider range of people. I am looking forward to introducing some routines with small groups when I get the chance at school. It could even be able to be used with whole grades. Choosing fun and appropriate sequences is the key and your chart will help. It is also great how we can work out sequences by just using our 26 movements. This was a very enriching experience for me.

Loved the Brain Dance Workshop! Mariah-Jane’s enthusiasm and knowledge meant that the day flew & left me wanting more. However, as she assured us, by the end of the day I had an understanding of the processes & could begin to adapt the activities to the preschool groups that I work with. Thank you Mariah-Jane for another wonderful activity to add to my toolbox.

Embracing Movement Diversity
Participants Experience

Attending Embracing Movement Diversity after the Brain Dance workshop was simply delight upon delight. I could not dance and have never taken dance lessons but by the end of the day I was able to fly and float snd spin and dive and take up Space, lightly and with Strength and with Timing! I have never danced like that in my life. I did not have sore muscles the next day. In fact, my body feels soft and the pain and soreness that I have lived with in my feet has disappeared. My posture is more upright and I feel more ease in my movements. I came with pain and left with freedom in movement and in expression. I would do the course again and again just to feel the liberation.
Mariah-Jane… I loved your teaching!
-Karen
The workshops certainly opened up new possibilities for me to move in a more dynamic way and I am post-workshop sensing that I am able to come from a more centred place and respond more fluidly from different vistas and perspectives. My goal had been "to move with impetus from a more inspired, centred space and to feel more embodied when in my curious space." And I can certainly say the workshops delivered on that .

Relax, Release and Re-Set Your Neck and Shoulders
This course has been presented in person and online.
Here is a testimonial from a Brain Gym consultant based in New Zealand who attended an online workshop.
Mariah-Jane's ideas are intriguing. The course I attended was stimulating, both for mind and body literally. I am a chronic pain specialist interested in natural treatments. Now I have experienced her ‘spirality’ ideas about holistic movement I believe this could be a game changer for working with chronic pain.
From the ideas of our body’s ‘bounce’ and its resilience to spinal homeostasis is a concept I will immediately be using in my work and sharing with clients.
One part of the course, the interlinking of finger movements to other parts of the body - like puppets on a string - I found interesting useful starting point for chronic pain treatment. Mariah-Jane presented many, many, more ideas that I highly recommend to anyone interested in holistic therapy and would be of interest to allied professionals working with chronic pain.
