Radiant Dance Student Teacher Programme

You already have Student Assistants...
Why NOT Train some Student Teachers?
While it is true that each studio has its own culture and methods, there are definitely some common threads.
Good teaching is simply good teaching.

With Trained Student Teachers you as the teacher will be able to leave the room to:
-
Speak with a Student Privately
-
Speak with a Parent
-
Pop to the Office
-
Gather Props or Costumes
-
Take a Washroom Break!!
-
Get Some Food and Water
And...know that the class will keep running effectively!
If YOU Trust The Radiant Dance Teacher,

How a Student Teacher Programme Benefits the Studio
✅ Develop Better Dancers and Respectful Students
Inspire excellence by developing skilled dancers and respectful, disciplined students.
✅ Build a Reliable Assistant Team:
Trained student teachers can become valuable in-class assistants, easing the load for faculty and helping with group management, transitions, and one-on-one support during lessons.
✅ Support Studio Growth:
With confident student leaders in place, your studio can accommodate more beginner classes or younger students, knowing that support is available for newer or busier instructors.
✅ Cultivate Studio Culture:
Young assistants help reinforce your studio’s values and expectations. They become peer role models, boosting discipline and positive energy in your classrooms.
✅ Invest in Your Future Teachers:
Today’s assistants are tomorrow’s instructors. This workshop helps you identify and develop your in-house teaching talent, building long-term sustainability for your program.
✅ Save Time and Resources:
Rather than training each assistant internally from scratch, this workshop gives them a solid foundation — saving your team hours of individual mentoring.
✅ Demonstrate Professional Growth Opportunities:
Parents and dancers will appreciate seeing that your studio supports leadership development — it’s a great addition to your studio’s offerings and shows commitment to dancer growth on and off the stage.
Creator and Instructor of the Course: Mariah-Jane Thies
Mariah-Jane has been teaching for almost 40 years and since 1997 has been guiding young teachers. She wrote her own pedagogy course back in 1999, and trained her many student teachers that worked at her studio for 10 years.
Mariah-Jane has also been the mentor and supervisor with the RAD for almost 20 years, with over 30 teachers influenced by her methods on their journey to becoming RAD Registered Teachers.
The art of teaching, pedagogy, has been a point of interest since her teens. Her Mom trained to be a teacher and encouraged her through her teens, with Mariah-Jane actually beginning her teaching career as a clarinet teacher.
In her college programme, she studied pedagogy and since graduation has sough out further training with her most consistent 1999-2025, being with the faculty at the Bill Evans Teacher's Intensives.
