Radiant Kids in Motion
Radiant Kids in Motion
Expand Potential   Discover Possibility   Shine
What if movement could be more than something children do?
What if it could help them discover how they:
- Learn
- Connect
- create
- Communicate
- Express themselves
Radiant Kids in Motion brings together movement, developmental patterns, creativity and playful exploration to create experiences where children can move, discover and grow in ways that feel meaningful to them.
Rather than asking children to simply perform a skill, we look at the foundations underneath it—helping children develop greater body awareness, coordination, confidence, curiosity and connection.
Because every child arrives with their own unique possibilities.
Our job isn't to make every child the same.
It's to help each child discover more of what is already possible within them.
Welcome to Radiant Kids in Motion.

All Sessions Focus on Experiential Learning
At Radiant Kids in Motion, we believe some things are understood most deeply when we experience them for ourselves.
That is why our programs are movement-based rather than simply information-based. Participants are invited to explore, experiment, notice, discover and make connections through their own bodies.
For children, this means learning through movement, play, imagination, creativity and interaction. Rather than simply being shown what to do, children have opportunities to discover how movement works, make choices, solve movement challenges and find their own possibilities.
For Radiant Babies in Motion, the learning happens differently. By experiencing developmental movement patterns such as rolling, reaching, pushing, pulling, creeping and crawling in their own bodies, adults gain an embodied understanding of what their babies are experiencing and why these early movement foundations matter.
This is not a dance class.
It is movement-based learning.
Whether the participant is a child discovering what their body can do or a parent discovering what their baby is learning through movement, the principle is the same:
Don't just learn about movement. Experience it.
Because when we experience something in our own bodies, we can begin to understand it in a different way—and that understanding can change what we notice, how we respond and what becomes possible next.
Our Philosophy: Integrated. Embodied. Expressive.
At Radiant Kids in Motion, we believe that meaningful expression grows from strong foundations.
Our work is guided by three interconnected ideas:
Integrated
Children are wonderfully complex. Movement, sensory experiences, coordination, attention, emotions, learning and relationships are not separate pieces—they continually influence one another.
We look at the whole child and the connections between these systems, rather than treating skills in isolation.
Embodied
Children don't just learn about their bodies. They learn through their bodies.
Movement gives children opportunities to discover how they feel, how they organize themselves, how they interact with their environment and what their bodies can do.
When learning is experienced rather than simply explained, it becomes something children can feel, explore and make their own.
Expressive
When children have a foundation of integration and embodied understanding, movement can become more than physical skill.
It becomes a way to communicate, create, connect and express who they are.
This is the heart of the Radiant approach:
Integration → Embodiment → Expression
We don't see these as three separate steps that a child simply moves through. They are continually interacting—each one enriching the others.
Our goal is not simply to teach what to do.
It is to create the conditions in which they can discover more of what they are capable of—and find their own ways to express it.
Meet Director: Mariah-Jane Thies
For nearly four decades, Mariah-Jane Thies has been exploring one question:
What helps people unlock their potential?
A lifelong dancer and educator, Mariah-Jane has spent her career looking beyond the surface of movement to understand what makes learning easier, more integrated and more expressive.
Her work brings together dance education, developmental movement, brain integration, sensory-motor development, anatomy, Laban movement principles and playful exploration. She is particularly fascinated by the foundations that develop long before a child ever takes a dance class—and by what becomes possible when those foundations are understood and supported.
Mariah-Jane believes children don't need to be pushed into potential. They need opportunities to discover it.
Through Radiant Kids in Motion, she creates movement experiences that are engaging, imaginative and developmentally meaningful—helping children build physical confidence while also supporting curiosity, connection, creativity and self-expression.
Her approach is Integrated, Embodied and Expressive: looking at the whole child, learning through the body, and allowing movement to become a pathway for expression and possibility.
Mariah-Jane has taught children, dancers, teachers and professionals internationally and has presented her work at organizations and conferences including the Royal Academy of Dance, IADMS, NDEO, Body-Mind Centering and Healthy Dancer Canada. She is a Royal Academy of Dance teacher, mentor and supervisor, a licensed Brain Gym instructor and consultant, a Rhythmic Movement Training consultant, and a trained Brain Dance educator. Her TEDx talk, Your Movement Habits Create Your Life, explores the powerful relationship between movement and the way we experience ourselves and the world.
In 2024, she received the Royal Academy of Dance Innovation in Dance Teacher Award.
But beyond the qualifications, Mariah-Jane brings something that has shaped her entire career:
a deep curiosity about what becomes possible when we stop asking, “How do I get this child to do it?” and start asking, “What would help this child discover how?”
