To the Pointe: Beyond Exercises

You may notice that the most popular videos are those that are about feet!

In my keynote, I shared that I love working on feet.  These are for personal and professional reasons.

I know that there are different things to for foot development that is not in the dance industry.  For example, my own Left foot arch had fallen after an injury.  And I was told to simply wear orthotics.  Well...I re-lifted my arch due to triggering the reflex.  And in the course I share about that. so if you have students with flat feet or high arches that are unstable, you are going to want to check out this course.

Please have a look at the info page and you can see the many categories of lessons.

This can be a teacher course, or a student course, with a teacher lead.

it is designed to be a full season worth of lessons!

Keynote Follow Up and Support

Draw Out Brilliance Without Burning Yourself Out

I hope you enjoyed the keynote and had some strong take aways.

Below you will find some resources for follow up.

Half of the Equation: Teacher Care

We all know that we "should" take care of ourselves.  And yet, we often forget to do so or simply do not have the time or energy to make it a priority.
But, self care does not have to mean carving out time for the bubble bath or journalling.  Self care can ALSO mean a different approach when class planning and teaching.  Perhaps remembering the CARE framework can support you as you go forward into your new teaching season.

A key piece I did NOT share in my keynote, because I was aware of my best use of my limited time:  There is a Difference between Self Care IN the Studio and what we can do OUTSIDE of the Studio.

Most of the great advice is for what to do OUTSIDE of the studio/your active teaching:

  • Time with Friends
  • Time in Nature
  • Take a Hot Bath
  • Read and Journal...

All of these are good and you likely already know about them and hopefully even do a whole lot of self care practices outside of the studio such as good sleep, nutrition, etc.

What about INSIDE the Studio

And since can only change yourself, start with HOW you show up as a teacher if you really value not just caring for your students but yourself as well.

And Remember:

Modelling good self care is a perhaps one of the biggest gifts we could ever give our students.

Life can be hard, and especially life in the dance industry.

Modelling Self Care IN the Studio is a Win-Win for YOU and Your Students!

Other Half: Student Care

To ensure students are open and able to learn without blocks, remember to utilize the Draw Out Method!

The Diamond Method Certification Programme

The Diamond Method: Shine Under Pressure

This is a flagship course of The Radiant Dance Teacher.  It is designed for studio owners and studio teachers who enter students into exams and competitions and wish to prepare students for successful auditions.

The pressure of the "performing" nature of this beautiful performing art is sometimes the most challenging for students.

Discover the how and why this happens, and most importantly what to do about it!

This is beyond positive encouragement and mindset work.  It is the container for this work.

On Day 2 of the conference was The Diamond Method Level 1 Certification.

Here is our group photo and a fun pose!

Great Videos and Book about the Brain

Check out the 2 great videos of Jill Bolte Taylor Ph D.  She is a neuroscientist who suffered a stroke and has written about that experience and what she learned first hand about the brain.  Her first book about this is called: "My Stroke of Insight".

The second video is important watching for anyone who works with teenagers!

And if you want a great book about the brain and how you have different characters based on which part of your brain is leading, you will want to check it out!

AND...if you want to know what these different characters look like in dance class AND what to do about it you will want to take The Diamond Method!

Thankfully, it is MOVEMENT that helps to keep the brain integrated so that you can be your best in all situations.  How perfect for dance teachers to be the leaders bringing this out into the world!

Well...you can't back in time, if you choose not to do the certification at the conference.

But, have no fear, while teaching this workshop in Perth, Western Australia in September 2025, it was recorded!

This hands-on workshop introduces the Injury Release Method—a practical system blending applied kinesiology, trauma awareness, and emotional clearing to support injury recovery and prevention in dancers. You'll learn how trauma and reflexes like the Moro Reflex impact completion of the healing process.

By the end, you'll know how to:

  • Address the root cause of ongoing trauma of acute injuries

  • Use the applied kinesiology technique of Muscle testing
  • Support students in regaining movement confidence and ease

  • Reduce the risk of re-injury

  • Resolve your own top 3 injury patterns

Ideal for anyone who wants to offer deeper, lasting support to dancers in their recovery and beyond.  AND...have a new source of revenue!

Injury Release Method Course

Radiant Spark Dance

Building Foundations via the Radiant Spark Dance

For ease of layering on dance skills, students need to have completed the developmental movement patterns fully.  The students of today, however, very often show up to class without these patterns completed and it shows in the challenges you will see in your students ease of physical skills development.

These skills can be developed at any age to great effect.

Many keen dance teachers who are seeking out ongoing training, have heard of the BrainDance created by dance educator, Anne Green-Gilbert.  The Radiant Dance Teacher has added additional useful elements both before and after the wonderful BrainDance.

The Radiant Spark Dance can be great for preschool classes, assessment and remedies for older children and teens, and fascinating and stabilizing for adults and seniors.

You will learn the popular BrainDance AND much more in this course.

Once you see the importance and value you will not be able to un-see how relevant this is to all your students and training choices.

Activate Your Students Feet

Were you surprised to see these 4 year olds displaying natural point of the feet and stretch of the legs?

Are YOU Obsessed with Feet Too?

Remember I shared that I am obsessed with feet, and the participants in the Injury Release Method know why (personal experience!).

My career changing moment was when I realized that I could spend the next 30-40 years saying "Point Your Feet"  and I did NOT want that future!

This foot focused course will have you looking at how the feet function in a whole new light and can change what you say forever!  Making it easier for you and your students.  And, even though the focus is on the feet, you'll see how the proper use of the feet affects the rest of the body positively. Everything is connected!

If you have yet to understand that the feet have 2 purposes during movement, you will delighted by these new insights.  The feet do so much more than simply point and make a nice line. AND they also have a unique function that creates the natural rebound shown in the pictures above the 4 year olds.  And it has to do with the pronation of the arch...which is a good thing, and not the same as rolling!

And...if you are curious about creating discovery and explorations for your students, this course will also help you do just that!

As an Attendee:

You are GIFTED a 20% off coupon for this course.

Affect of Primitive Reflexes

Retained Primitive Reflexes are often the Cause!

As you can see in the pyramid below, reflex integration is the foundation of all future movement skills.  Without full integration of each and every one of these reflexes, there will be lasting effects and compensations.  The good news is that these reflexes can be integrated at any age.

Reflexes that are still active in the system are unique to each person.  If you think you may have active reflexes or some of your students, this will require one on one sessions.  These sessions can be done online or in person.

Check out the info sheet to learn about the various reflexes and how they can be affecting you/your students.

Reach out in the contact form and specify your interest.
